Heatherton 173rd Scouts

Cubs

Well what a busy year. Last summer we went to Peak 2005 in Chatsworth Park and all had a fantastic time, making new friends and trying new activities.

We have entered and been successful in several competitions, proving that we have learnt some scouting skills.

Our first four Chief Scout Gold awards were achieved this year. They can be seen here being presented by Richard FitzHerbert of Tissington. Two further scouts have also recently achieved this award.

We have been on a trip round a local car factory, all having to wear silly hats for a train ride around the production line.

And we have had a visit to the Council Chambers in Derby where we met the Mayor.

In May we joined with Cubs and Beavers for a fun filled group camp at Walesby Forest in neighbouring Nottinghamshire

And we have just returned from our weeks summer camp at Kibblestone in Staffordshire, where we took were able to take part in rafting, archery, rifle shooting and artificial caving, along with many other scouting activities.

We have also been on walks, tried climbing on a local climbing wall, been sailing and taken part in the Derby Family Fun Run, to mention but a few other things.

As you can see we have all had a fun packed year, and although as a scout troop we are only five years old, we are now all looking forward to another busy year next year to celebrate 100 years of scouting.

The Scouts meet Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.
